Nine Lessons & Carols

 

For many, the King’s College Choir defines Christmas musically, and this recording of their 2010 carol service is a natural choice to launch the choir’s own label. The Bible readings are included, and there’s a useful bonus on the second CD: carols the choir has recently commissioned, from Brett Dean, Dominic Muldowney and Tansy Davies among others. Perhaps the lower voices aren’t quite as smoothly blended here as they usually are at King’s, but generally the level of achievement reached in these live performances is enviable.
