The Mozart of this collection is a Così fan tute less bizarre than it looks on paper. Leontyne Price and Tatiana Troyanos might be said to be the ones wearing the trousers – how about a Così where the women swap roles with the men? – but there’s plenty of style there, above all in a wonderfully decorated ‘E amore un ladroncello’. Leinsdorf paces well, and was this the first Così to include all the usually discarded numbers? David Nice
