Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Catalani, Ponchielli, Cilea, etc

From the mid-20th century until her final stage performances in 1973, Tebaldi was the leading Italian soprano, especially in Verdi and Puccini. Although she was a poor actress, this was more than compensated for by the beauty of her voice. One of the most enjoyable items on these discs is a slice of La bohème from ‘Sì, mi chiamano Mimì’ to the end of Act II with Carlo Bergonzi partnering Tebaldi gloriously in ‘O soave fanciulla’.
