Louis Glass: Symphony No. 2 in C minor; Fantasia for piano and orchestra

Louis Glass has been described, accurately if the Second Symphony is anything from which to judge, inaccurately if the benchmark is the rambling, bizarre piano Fantasia, as the Danish Bruckner. The Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra under Nayden Todorov does this unfamiliar music few favours with its thin tone and imperfect intonation. A boxy recording. Stephen Pettitt
