Orchestral wit and vivid counterpoint are to the fore here. In the concertos, every instrumental line is beautifully clear, weaving arabesques around the soloist. The rondo of the second concerto is a riot of slithery colours and harmonies. Of the two fillers, the Duet Concertino is marvellously evocative.
