In A Tribute to Spain Ansermet is in his element in Ravel’s Rapsodie espagnole and Debussy’s Iberia, which are both delightfully evocative, while Falla’s Homenajes is utterly charming.
The jewel, though, is the partnership with Arthur Rubinstein in Nights in the Gardens of Spain, conductor, soloist and orchestra combining to sparkling effect. Christopher Dingle
