This generously-filled disc is well worth investigating. The performance of the Symphonie fantastique is colourful and exciting, and only in matters of detail could criticisms be made. The two overtures are excellent, for here as in the larger work Bátiz secures highly committed playing from his orchestra. The digital sound is first rate, accommodating both instrumental detail and richly-textured climaxes with ease. Terry Barfoot
