Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 in E

Eliahu Inbal is proving himself something of a Bruckner specialist, and his Frankfurt Radio Orchestra is certainly capable of rising to the occasion, but this recording of the Seventh contains some quirky slow-ups and pauses which threaten that all-important sense of architectural line. The slow movement fudges the issue of whether Bruckner intended timpani and percussion at the climax by including only the timpani. Christopher Fifield
