Decca: The World Of...

Two Decca CDs from their artist/ensemble-led World of... series deserve a brief mention here, though much of the current batch is entirely forgettable. ‘The World of PHILIP JONES BRASS ENSEMBLE’ (467 785-2) includes a selection of prime cuts from the group’s illustrious 35-year history in demonstration-quality digital transfers, while a STOKOWSKI disc (older collectors will remember much of its content from the heady days of ‘Phase-4 Stereo’) includes some of this idiosyncratic maestro’s best-loved transcriptions (467 828-2).
