Delius: Songs of Farewell; Late Swallows; A Song before Sunrise; The Walk to the Paradise Garden; La Callnda; Cynara

This imaginative disc, compiled from recordings made over a 17-year period, covers many aspects of Delius's art. The largest work, the Songs of Farewell, is given in Sargent's recording (1965), while Cynara, another Fenby collaboration, is beautifully shaped by Groves. The various orchestral works all receive compelling performances, but the gem is King's College Choir in the two short Songs to be sung of a Summer Night on the Water, which are worth the price of the disc on their own.
