Dvorak/Debussy/Ravel

Though originally issued at the same time as the Bartók Quartet’s Beethoven (see above), this disc lists a different second violin and cello. Whether due to them or not, the performances add easy-going responsiveness and a clear-headed sense of structure to a purity of string tone only occasionally less secure than that noted earlier. Very good value: the Debussy and Ravel are widely available together, but usually unaccompanied. Keith Potter
