Ciccolini makes a good case for the piano version of a number of Franck organ works. His playing throughout is an appealing mix of the forceful and the expressive. He is even better in the Symphonic Variations, and the Orchestre de Liège accompaniment is bouncy and more than reliable. A worthwhile issue, despite the throaty and occasionally quavery piano sound.
