Haydn: The Seasons

This has become perhaps the classic recording of Haydn’s late oratorio The Seasons (1801). Böhm was not known as an interpreter of Haydn, but the few discs he made were first-rate (Symphony No. 88, etc), and The Seasons is remarkable by any standards: top-class soloists, a recording that has held up remarkably and a vigorous, splendid reading.
