Hotteterre

Jacques Hotteterre (‘Le Romain’) was a contemporary of Couperin and Rameau. His Principes de la flute traversière (1777) was an informative manual for aspiring flautists. Hotteterre, though a competent oboist, was above all a virtuoso flute player and most of his music was written for that instrument. These discs bring together pieces for both instruments, singly and in pairs, as well as other works for recorders and musette. Also featured are two charming songs, performed by soprano Marjanne Kweksilber.
