Stravinsky/Rachmaninov/Tchaikovsky

A celebration of Itzhak Perlman’s artistry in his fiftieth birthday year, this compilation also celebrates an important historical association, the duo partnership of violinist Samuel Dushkin and Igor Stravinsky. Perlman moves gracefully from Kreisler gems – arrangements of Tchaikovsky’s Andante cantabile and Chansons sans paroles and Rachmaninov’s ‘Marguerite’ – to the pleasant dances of Stravinsky’s Tchaikovsky-derived Divertimento arranged by Dushkin. The Suite italienne and Duo concertant are impeccably polished and well remastered; modernist spice mixed with Russian-style salon charm.
