Wagner, Boëllmann, Rheinberger, & Vierne

Chorzempa’s technical prowess is given free rein at the opening of this attractive recital with a stunning performance of three Wagner transcriptions. The big French works are well paced, although the famous Toccata from the Gothic Suite could have done with more fire in its belly. The Vierne pieces are beautifully played and tastefully coloured, and the sound of the instrument vividly captured.
