Rossini: Petite messe solennelle

On occasions the orchestral sound seems rather dead in this recording (albeit rarely), and yet the voices are consistently well-endowed with vigour and enthusiasm for Rossini’s inimitable late Mass. Chailly’s engaging account is suffused with a warmth and integrity which reflects the work’s congenial disposition. Christopher Dingle
