Madame Butterfly

From Paris comes the soundtrack for Frédéric Mitterrand’s new film of Madame Butterfly. When I say soundtrack I mean, of course, Puccini’s full-fledged opera on disc. Richard Troxell is Pinkerton, while the title role is sung by the Chinese soprano Ying Huang; James Conlon conducts. If the film looks as good as it sounds (it’s not released in London until mid-June), it will be very good indeed.
