Au Cabaret Sauvage

LO’JO does something comparable for the French chanson, and even in one number the café valse.

The group also creates new songs, mainly for a throaty male voice, and there’s an element of cross-cultural input, or at least exotic plundering, in the arrangements which feature rather operatic obbligatos on violin and oboe, a women’s chorus, and a taste for North African drums and Arabian rhythms.

Some underground-style elements modulate the production, but essentially this is a live band doing what it does best.
