Made in Dakar

Orchestra Baobab were recording in the same Dakar studio as N’Dour, and each shows up briefly on the other’s album. Baobab found new success for their unreconstructed, Afro-Latin 1970s style when they reformed a few years ago, and their relaxed pace, old-school guitar sound and rampant sax are on form as they revisit and extend their repertoire. Alongside several lead singers, the outstanding performances are Barthelemy Attisso’s long, versatile guitar breaks.
