Placing the Italian-born, British-based guitarist ANTONIO FORCIONE is harder. The material is mostly his own, it brings together elements from Italy and Afro-Latin music, it contains plenty of improvisation but it isn’t jazz, it’s rooted but it isn’t folk either. Just call it good, fairly relaxed music-making with wide international references. Forcione’s sparky acoustic playing is regularly offset by a cello, making an effective contrast of string timbres, and a couple of times joined by singers, one Italian in style and one lyrical flamenco.
