The well-established Lalith Rao dropped out of currency for a while with vocal problems. She is now singing again, but the Navras release BEYOND REACH is from a 1987 concert, very warm and focused, sustaining and decorating a slow tempo at length, drawing shouts of approval as she proceeds, which turn to an ovation when the fast and increasingly florid final composition ends after nearly 50 minutes. There is space for one more item, slow again and extending outwards with the same dimensions of musical thought.
