Inspired by the success of Portuguese fado singer Mariza, Deolinda are a Lisbon based four-piece fronted by singer Ana Bacalhau, whose voice often bears a striking resemblance to that of her role model.
Guitarist Pedro da Silva Martins’s songs not only explore new angles on the fado tradition but also include a couple of waltzes, plus Brazilian and Cape Verdean influences. Jon Lusk
