Spiritual and personal content drives JOE LOUIS WALKER’s latest release, too. This veteran of the Sixties electric blues scene boasts a light but powerful voice, affecting narrative lyrics and scintillating guitar solos with or without amplification.

In the gospelly title-song and the confessional ‘Where Jesus Leads’ this CD ranges wider than core blues, though there is some driving old-time stuff such as ‘Joe’s Jump’ with its boogie bass, laments for lost lovers, a Jagger-Richards instrumental complete with braying organ, and a massive, tragic, slow-blues finale, again acoustic.
