Shy Angels

Shy Angels

The remix of SUSSAN DEYHIM’s music for Shy Angels suffers from over-production, burying a focused and powerful singer under layers of keyboards, drones, Indian percussion (Zakir Hussein, no less), synthesized drum-and-bass and generally rich textures.

It all seems to be trying too hard to be Talvin Singh, which you hardly need to be when you’re already Bill Laswell. Go for the pudding without the extra eggs, in the shape of Deyhim’s original Madman of God album which is electric enough.
