Tango Project, vol. 1

The first Tango Project album has at its heart the stylish, sometimes loosely vibrant but always intense singing of Horacio Ravera, burying him in a resonant acoustic from which emerge bursts of thunderous piano left hand and swooshing violins attributed to one Orquesta Color Tango.

Heavy going, and the three short video tracks with a pair of dimly lit dancers (you’ll need a PC or a DVD) have a more clearly recorded sextet to accompany them. Popular repertoire, in case you fancy this oddly assorted hybrid which gives both eye and ear short measure.
