Of two discs from Reunion Island, out in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Mauritius, FIRMIN VIRY’s was recorded there and is the more laid-back and rural with its solo and chorusing response in songs that tell stories.
This may be the first ever CD to list six dancers, but whatever they are doing you probably will be too, since the overriding feature is a ubiquitous, infectious pulse from some multicoloured percussion.
